Blowing the FAB budget before I get there

First thing this morning, I raced out to retrace my steps from last night to the spot where the slithering and clunking noise occured. Sure enough, there was my little handheld friend, looking lost and forlorn, scratched and wet by the side of the road. Miraculously, no one had driven over it as it seems to have skidded off to the curb rather than sit in the middle of the road like a rabbit in headlights.

It was literally dripping! The Hubster popped out the battery and turned our oven on low, setting the phone open in front of the vents so it got a gentle, drying heat wafting over it for a couple of hours.

While it does seem to work and I've been able to send and receive a few texts, even some with images from Jill that I've uploaded to her trip report on PassPorter, I can tell that it won't be sufficient to sustain me during the trip (and, NO!, I'm not an addict and I don't need some stinkin' 12-step de-texting program.) Nor does it seem that this is just a matter of needing to let the phone have further time to dry out.

**sigh**

I guess I'll be going to the Verizon store later this afternoon to pick up the enV3 (which only just got released a few weeks ago!)

The real bummer is that we were due for free phones in August (our last 2-year commitment is up) and CJ and I were both looking forward to upgrading our technology. Now, I'll have to get a new phone and I'm not sure what that will do to his getting a free phone in August.

Anyway, that $129 will have to be spent and that means $129 has to come out of my Frosty Adult Beverage (FAB) budget.

**double sigh**

But, I have to do what I have to do... for the fans.

;)

  2. Ahhh . . . it's time for me to start looking at new phones, too. I just had to buy a new car charger over the winter, and want something that will work with it! It's Barbie Pink!

  3. Eileen - I just saw your new phone at Best Buy on-line. With a contract extension through Verizon (which you may be able to do), it would leave an extra $60 in your FAB budget!
